10th June 2015 Windsurfing: felixstowe dip Wind Direction: ne Wind Stength: f5 Surf / Sea State: rough messy Air Temperature: cold Sea Temperature: ok Weather: sunny cold Max Speed: 23..62 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 11 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Had a torrid time as the sea was too rough and messy for my liking. It was 23 kts on my gauge (gusts) rigged 5.7 / 105 Fanatic free wave but was under on first two runs so lost several groynes downwind. Tried one more time but just couldn't get upwind on the 28cm fin. The sea was rough with no clean Ne waves. Switch to 34cm fin and used the 125 HAWK. That setup was too big really as going out in the chop was bumpy. Sailed straight up wind to the golf end with the others, thinking waves or flat water but it was worse chop. Could only find waves on the inside to gybe off. Several out and it was Def a wave head day and not my bag really. Had several long rests as knackered fighting the sea so only covered 11 nm. Didn't try any speed runs, just happy to stay upright. Hope Thursday is better. |
